Dear Folkboat sailors,

Here is an update for the Gold Cup event in Sandhamn this summer. The prepara- tions are coming along fine and we are looking forward to welcome you all in July.

Racing area

Because we want to offer sailing as close to Sandhamn as possible, KSSS has been given the right to shorten the legs in certain wind directions. There is also an ongoing discussion to have three laps instead of two, to compensate for the shorter legs.

Mooring

All Folkboats are welcome to moor to- gether at Lökholmen, KSSS Club Island next to Sandhamn. We have decided to move the Gold Cup center to Lökholmen because it gives us much better possibili- ties for the mooring and for social activi- ties. In both cases the sailing people can have their accommodation at the main island or at Lökholmen.

At Lökholmen you will stay together in one separate lagoon, Trollsundet. Close by there are showers and toilets and most of all – it’s close to Trollgården, where the social events will take place. At Lökholmen there is also a sauna for your disposal.

25 July to 29 July. If you bring a tender boat, please contact the harbor master

in Sandhamn/Lökholmen, sandhamn@ ksss.se. Tender boats get a 50 % discount on the mooring fee during the regatta.

Ferry Sandhamn – Lökholmen

To get between Sandhamn and Lökhol- men there is a shuttle every half hour (once an hour while you are out sailing). This is free of charge and takes approxi- mately 5 minutes. A small boat with chauffeur will also be available for quick transports between the islands.

Accommodation

Due to the high season in Sandhamn you need to be out well in time for book- ing of hotels or renting of houses, this time of the year, some of the accommo- dation in Sandhamn might already be fully booked.

KSSS can offer an alternative accommo- dation at Lökholmen Junior Camp. This facility offers cottages with rooms for eight people and has a simple standard.

Breakfast and packed lunch is served in the Junior Camp every day. Accommo- dation including breakfast and packed lunch cost sek 320 per person per night. Make your reservations by e-mailing regatta@ksss.se. There is also a possibil- ity to camp in tents at Lökholmen.

Social activities

Now for the other fun part of the event! Everything starts with the opening cere- mony that will take place on Wednesday the 25th at 6 pm at Trollgården, Lökhol- men. The racing starts on Thursday and after the racing you are all welcome to

a picnic at a secret location! On Friday there will be an After Sail at Trollgården, beer and snacks will be available.

The regatta dinner is served at Varvet (located in the Junior Camp area) at

7 pm, Saturday the 28th. Enjoy nice food and good company overlooking the sun- set! Thursday to Saturday there will be a Daily First prize giving at the social event of the day. The final day there will be After Sail and Prize Giving Ceremony

as soon as possible after the race. Family and friends can buy tickets at the Race Office for the opening ceremony and regatta dinner. Tickets for the picnic will be available at the Race Office.
